Chemical Plants
The challenge
Chemical plants are among the most unforgiving industrial environments for welding subcontractors. Live sites have residual inventory. Process lines carry corrosive, reactive, or flammable material. Hot work restrictions are strict. Permit-to-work systems are elaborate. And contractor SHE frameworks — like INEOS SHE at INOVYN — explicitly extend the producer’s safety management standards to every person working on behalf of the company.
For a welding contractor, this means operating under a set of rules that are tighter than many industries. Your welders need to be experienced, your documentation needs to be airtight, and your integration with the main contractor and end operator’s safety regime needs to be automatic.
What we deliver
- Chemical plant shutdown support — welding and piping during scheduled outages
- Process equipment replacement — tie-in welding, new unit installation, pressure testing
- Heat exchanger overhaul — complete disassembly, inspection, welding restoration, reassembly
- Piping system welding and installation — stainless, duplex, and alloy materials
- PTW integration and hot work compliance

SHE framework integration
Chemical producers increasingly require contractors to adopt their own SHE management system — formally and in practice. INEOS SHE at INOVYN is the clearest example: the framework is published, it covers contractors and employees on the same terms, and the producer expects contractor SHE performance to match their own.
Our approach: we adopt the client SHE framework on every chemical job. That means:
- Pre-mobilization SHE induction on client procedures
- Daily toolbox talks with the client or main contractor’s safety lead
- Hot work permits issued under plant procedure with fire watch and exclusion zones
- Incident reporting to plant safety on any near-miss or observation
- Close-out reporting at outage end
