Steel Production
The challenge
Steel production facilities — traditional mills and the new wave of green steel plants — need extensive welded piping infrastructure. Large-diameter carbon steel pipelines carry hydrogen, gases, cooling water, and process fluids. Heavy-wall pressure piping connects process islands. Prefabrication output needs to scale across diameters from small-bore instrument and process lines through to DN2000 heavy-section headers.
Greenfield steel projects generate demand faster than most specialist welding contractors can supply. And the new green-steel segment — hydrogen-based direct reduction replacing blast furnaces — is the biggest industrial decarbonisation wave in Europe. These projects are setting the template for the next decade of heavy-industrial welded piping demand.
What we deliver
- Large-diameter pipe prefabrication — carbon steel from
DN25precision work toDN2000heavy-section headers - Pipe spool fabrication and welded assembly with full traceability
- Welding to
ISO 3834-2,EN 13480,EN 1090 - Test pack documentation per spool
Standards and codes

The DN2000 capability is specifically what differentiates us from most small and mid-sized welding subcontractors. Large-bore welding at this scale requires rotating positioners, heavy rigging, and multi-pass welding discipline. We deliver that.
Selected project
Stegra, Sweden — Large diameter pipe prefabrication for green steel
September-December 2025. Four months of carbon steel pipe prefabrication for the Stegra (formerly H2 Green Steel) facility in Northern Sweden — one of Europe’s flagship green steel investments. DN25 through DN2000. Delivered via WP Welding AB.
Why steel producers and EPC main contractors bring MIDAS on
- Proven large-diameter capability — DN2000 delivered at Stegra
- Full range execution — same crew handling DN25 precision and DN2000 heavy work
- Nordic main contractor partnerships — WP Welding AB
- Green transition readiness — Stegra is the proof point
