Sweden — Heat Exchanger Overhaul at Swedish Process Plant

Context

Heat exchanger overhaul scope delivered at an undisclosed Swedish process plant through a Swedish main contractor. The NDA limits what we can publish about the specific site and end operator — but the scope and execution pattern is typical of our Swedish heat exchanger work.

Heat exchangers in Swedish refining, chemical, and pulp-and-paper plants sit on critical heat-recovery loops. Overhaul scopes require tight outage windows, disciplined welder allocation, and complete documentation for the plant’s acceptance regime.

Scope

Short-term heat exchanger overhaul campaign:

  • Disassembly of the heat exchanger unit
  • Tube-bundle inspection and fault identification
  • Welding restoration (tube-to-tubesheet and/or shell-side as required)
  • Reassembly with pressure testing
  • Documentation pack aligned to the plant’s acceptance criteria

Approach

Outage window discipline. Heat exchanger overhauls in operating plants happen inside planned outage windows. MIDAS crews arrive with pre-qualified WPS coverage for the relevant materials, so no time is lost to procedure qualification on-site.

Welder allocation. Welders qualified on the tube-to-tubesheet procedure and shell-weld procedures relevant to the unit. The work-mix typically spans TIG root on thin-wall tube work and MAG fill-cap on heavier shell sections.

Documentation discipline. Complete test pack per repair — WPS references, weld map, NDT coordination, pressure test records. The test pack is what the plant needs before signing the unit back into service.

Outcome

MIDAS delivered the overhaul within the scheduled outage window, with the unit returned to service on a full test pack. The scope is representative of the repeating heat-exchanger work we take on in Swedish operating plants through main contractor partners.
